This degree is intended for those who wish to specialise in statistics, while developing broader mathematical understanding. You will complete a placement year between the second and final year.
Your placement year is a great way to get experience of real-world mathematics and statistics and improve your CV. We'll give you all the support you need to find the right employer. You can specialise later in your course, and may have the option to switch between our degrees.
The course includes modules in statistics, probability, core mathematics, pure mathematics and applied mathematics, with an emphasis on statistics and probability as you progress.
You'll also learn the skills of statistical data analysis and computing, and have the chance to apply these in project work and during your placement year.
You'll have plenty of opportunities to focus on your career and skills development, too. For example, we have modules on computer programming, statistics in society and secondary school teaching.
