To develop a sound understanding of the skills and knowledge of advanced mathematics needed for progression to Higher Education or employment.

Description Breakdown:
You will follow the EDEXCEL syllabus and study two modules of Pure Maths plus an applications module. All modules carry the same weighting. Extensive use is made of set texts which are written to cover the course, and which you will be expected to buy. Many parts of the course require a good knowledge of algebraic manipulation and the emphasis during the initial weeks will be on this area. Students must be prepared to commit themselves to about 3 hours private study per week throughout the year, in addition to full attendance at classes.

A 1½ hour examination, externally set and marked, for each module i.e. a total examination time of 4½ hours. The module examinations are taken at the end of the course in May/June.
