Our joint honours mathematics and philosophy degree offers an extremely wide choice of philosophy modules – with coverage from pre-Socrates
to the present day – and particular teaching strengths in philosophy of mind, philosophy of science and ancient philosophy. The mathematics element gives students a foundation in many branches of mathematics, including algebra, analysis, probability and geometry.
Students on the Mathematics & Philosophy with a Year Abroad BSc will spend their third year studying abroad before returning to complete a final year with King’s.

Course programme

1st Year

Courses are divided into modules. Each year you will normally take modules totalling 120 credits.

Students on the Mathematics & Philosophy with a Year Abroad BSc will spend their third year studying abroad before returning to complete a final year with King’s. This depends on students reaching a certain grade average and being accepted by a partner university. Students on the three year course may transfer to the four year Mathematics & Philosophy with a Year Abroad BSc.

In your first year, you will take 75 credits from Mathematics and 45 credits from Philosophy.

In the final year of the four year Mathematics & Philosophy BSc, there is more flexibility and you may take up to five modules from mathematics or philosophy.
