Degree-level maths is about finding ways to answer big questions. You will study core mathematics, pure mathematics, applied mathematics, probability and statistics, and complete an integrated placement year between the second and final year. You can specialise later in your course, and may have the option to switch between our degrees.
In the first and second year, you will look at how mathematicians have tried to answer similar questions in the past and learn how to construct a logical argument with reasoned conclusions.
Your placement year will then be a great way to get experience of real-world mathematics and improve your CV. We'll give you all the support you need to find the right employer.
When you return to study in your final year, you'll have lots of choice so that you can build on what you learnt while you were away.
You'll have plenty of opportunities to focus on your career and skills development, too. For example, we have modules on computer programming, statistics in society and secondary school teaching.
