MChem degrees at Swansea University build on the solid foundation of BSc Chemistry, but developing further depth in the main topic areas.
The defining feature of the MChem is a substantial research project, embedded in a research group within the University and interacting with that research environment.
Typically this would include a mix of postgraduate students such as PhDs, EngDs and research staff, and has the potential to result in publishable work.
Uniquely these projects can sit within other colleges as well as Science, such as Engineering or Medicine, to further a student’s specialism and to enhance the interdisciplinary research culture at Swansea University.
MChem degrees are a good first step towards professional chemist status and an introduction to independent research.
