Overview
What is mechanical engineering? Simply put, mechanical engineering is the design, manufacture and maintenance of mechanical systems. This said, mechanical engineering is one of the broadest of the engineering disciplines and will offer you a wide choice of options in industry.
Our Mechanical Engineering BEng (Hons) degree is a modern degree which delivers a blend of traditional disciplines such as stress analysis, dynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics, with contemporary subjects such as mechatronics, laser materials processing, healthcare engineering and the range of techniques known collectively as computer aided engineering (CAE).
As a student on our Mechanical Engineering degree you will experience a diverse array of engineering science-based subjects that provide technical expertise and integration of skill sets. The Mechanical Engineering degree takes advantage of other engineering disciplines, blending materials science, electronics and software engineering with the core subjects.
