You will need at least grade C in four GCSEs including English, or a Merit or Distiinction in Media BTEC First Diploma. About the Course
This is a very practical two-year course, assessed through 18 units.
There are four core units
• Understanding the Media.
• Research Techniques.
• Media Skills Development.
• Professional Practice and Working in the Media Industry.
And fourteen specialist units including
• Making a Short Film.
• Television (soap opera etc).
• Music Video.
• Documentary Production.
• Experimental Film/Installation Video.
• Understanding Video Technology.
• Animation Production.
• Developing a Small Media Business.
• Production of Adverts for TV.
Each unit is accompanied by detailed paperwork including scripts, risk assessments, floor plans and set designs - to name but a few. Although most units are practical, some contain theory - Understanding the Media, for example, in which you will be taught the media language to analyse films and TV and learn how powerfully the media can manipulate audiences. Second year students have the opportunity to visit Los Angeles to see all the major studios.

Assessment is based on practical assignments; there are no exams.
Eighteen units are studied over two years and are the equivalent to three A levels.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
