The BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences programme is designed to prepare students for further study on professional programmes; such as graduate entry Medicine, Dentistry or Physician Associate Studies, Masters or PhD studies, as well as creating opportunities for students to competitively apply for careers in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries or academia. Delivered over three years, this programme provides a unique opportunity for you to gain a scientific degree which is embedded within a clinically-focused curriculum. Staff from both scientific and clinical fields will guide you through your journey, developing key transferable skills and enhancing your understanding of the healthcare industry in order to prepare you as a highly competitive candidate for a range of career options. Course programme
During the first year, the course will help you to establish a core scientific foundation in the understanding of body systems and their functions using an integrated approach.

Year 2
In the second year you will study the mechanisms of clinical and pathological conditions at both gross and molecular levels, whilst also exploring the evidence base for science and clinical medicine.

In the final year you will have the opportunity to build on the clinical science knowledge gained in year two and further apply this by exploring patient care, communication, clinical skills and therapeutic treatments.
