Course description Have you ever thought about becoming a doctor, a dentist, a pharmacist, an optometrist or just about any other job in medical sciences but realised you don't have the necessary qualifications? Well don't worry, this Access To Higher Education Diploma has been designed specifically to give you the chance to study these subjects at university. Developed with the support of the Medical and Human Sciences Faculty at the University of Manchester to ensure you learn all the relevant skills you'll need to apply for and succeed at university, this course will give you a thorough overview of topics in Biology, Maths, Chemistry and Physics. Just some of the units you'll study include human cardiovascular systems, the exchange and transport of gases, and non-ionising & medical images. You'll take a broad look at the medical sciences industry, and get a great introduction to the tools and laboratories that you could be working with one day.

3. Entry requirements If you'd like to go on to study medicine and dentistry courses, you'll need to have GCSEs in English and Maths at grade B or above. Some universities such as Liverpool and Lancaster will also require you to have a grade B or above in all GCSE Sciences, along with relevant experience/work placement in a hospital setting. A number of dental and medical schools will also ask you to complete aptitude and admissions tests such as the UKCAT and BMAT. You'll need to conduct your own research and achieve good scores in these if they are required. If you'd like to study other courses in pharmacy and medical sciences, you'll need GCSEs at grade C or above in English and Maths. We also invite all applicants down for an interview, in order for us to check you have the commitment and skills required to complete this diploma.
