Course programme

To give a greater understanding of mental distress. To enable participants to develop skills in recognizing, preventing and diffusing difficult situations. To increase basic communication skills which will be useful in working with people who are not behaving in predictable ways. To enable participants to assess situations where there is an element of risk in order to minimize risk. To consider appropriate strategies for follow-up including the recording of incidents and gaining access to mental health services. To assist participants in identifying support and supervision needs surrounding difficult situations. To allow participants space to identify current concerns including those relating to the environment.
