Course programme
Adults aged 19+ recovering from mental health conditions who are at a stage in their recovery where they are able to benefit from being and studying at college. The applicants should be ready to make a commitment to the course, attend regularly and be able to cope with the college environment.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?Students will need to be able to demonstrate that they have Literacy skills at E2 or above, either through existing qualifications or by taking a test at interview. This course is one module on our Community Link programme - students also attend Core Modules in Personal and Social Development as part of the programme (See Course Profile for MH Community Link: PSD). Students can choose a variety of modules to suit their tastes and needs, of which English A is one.
What will I study ?This is a Functional Skills English class for students wanting to make a start on improving their English Skills. The classes will help you to improve your written English and your reading and will also make you a more confident speaker and listener.
How will I be assessed ?There will be a Functional Skills English exam at Entry Level 3. Students can take the exam in Spring and Summer term. Exams may be paper-based or online. Online exams can be taken at other points in the year.
What qualifications could I achieve ?Edexcel Functional Skills maths
