Course Objectives

Day one.

• What on earth is "relational database?
• Tables, forms, queries, reports, macros etc. Explained and tested.
• Creating the cornerstones. It all rests on the table!
• Primarily about keys.
• Relationships matter.
• Creating a user friendly front end in one second. What is a form anyway?
• Lookup boxes. Macros in a nutshell.
• Keyboard shortcuts the Microsoft way.
• Putting it all together.

Day two.

• Any questions from day one?
• Small is beautiful. Making your database faster.
• Databases are stupid. Getting your data back out. How and when you want it.
• Importing from other data sources. Excel is very popular.
• Finding, filtering and querying.
• Building a "know it all" query. Wonderful stuff!
• Reporting it all. Printing the results.
• Switchboards and commands. Let's make it easy.
• Security. Hiding data. Right data, right place. Preventing the "Oops".
• Locking or hiding your important data.
• Putting it all together in style.
• Congratulations, certificates and home. Phew!

Prerequisites

A good working understanding of Excel and an interest and requirement in the use of Access.
