Course programme

The programme provides students with the knowledge and skills to enter the midwifery profession. Working as a midwife involves providing support, care and advice for the women during pregnancy, labour and after the birth. The role of a midwife also includes working autonomously to promote normal birth, detecting deviations from the normal, carrying out emergency procedures when necessary, providing counselling and education for the woman and her family throughout pregnancy and childbirth, and promoting health in the wider community. Furthermore, the programme will afford students an academic award at honours degree level.
