Mixed Media Painting

Course Aims:
Students will be introduced to a variety of new skills and techniques with a combination of materials and media, exploring mark-making, colour theory and design theory.

Course Content:
This course is designed to provide an opportunity to develop some Drawing and Painting skills. Students will cover composition, line, tone and colour in different contexts using a range of Drawing and Painting technique, along with collage and mixed media techniques. There will be plenty of opportunity to experiment with materials and equipment.

Progression:
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Craft (Drawing and Painting) or Acrylic Painting

Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external NCFE moderator. As an integral part of the course all students will be expected to complete a workbook evidencing competence in the assessment criteria.

NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Creative Craft (Drawing and Painting)

Other Costs:
You will need to start off with an A3 sketchbook and pencils. Other materials will be needed later on in the course and your tutor will advise you about what is needed and when.

Duration:
60 Guided Learning Hours (Typically over 20-30 weeks per year)
