Take pleasure in creating your own modern calligraphy script. This 6 week course will teach you how to create a cursive writing style that is truly your own. You will be using a flexible, pointed nib to write letterforms inspired by traditional copperplate calligraphy but with a contemporary twist.

About this course

For more advanced learners:
1. Use a flexible nib to write longer pieces of text.

All materials are provided for use during class and advice on buying equipment will be given by the
tutor during the course.

Course programme

You’ll begin with the basics such as learning how to use a flexible nib, creating a basic alphabet and writing capital letterforms. Then you’ll explore how to create your own style, incorporate flourishes and writing with different coloured inks.

Group and individual demonstrations supported by discussions and visual references, but mainly learning by doing. It would be beneficial if you could do some practise between sessions.
