About this course
Applicants should normally hold a 2(i) Honours degree in history or a cognate discipline. In addition, students whose mother tongue is not English require IELTS 6.5.

Training courses ensure that all postgraduate students are given a thorough grounding in the techniques and tools of historical research before they carry out their dissertation. Thematic courses range from straight historical subjects to courses in Literature, History of Art, Divinity, and Cultural History and Anthropology. Students normally take a combination of course work and write a short dissertation.
Programme Content
You follow a core curriculum of two 20-credit courses on historiographical and methodological issues, which encompass the specific advice required for your intended research project.

Assessment
Assessment is mostly based on written work and moderated according to university standards. For the award of the MLitt you are required to write a dissertation of 15,000 words in English.
