Choose one languages from: French, German, Italian and Hispanic Studies. Choose the second language from Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish. You’ll spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.On the Modern Languages and Linguistics course you will study 50% Languages and 50% Linguistics. Depending on your interest, you may be able to transfer to BA Modern Languages with Linguistics, which would enable you to study either two language modules, one culture module and one linguistics module or three languages and one linguistics module.

We employ a variety of teaching styles, including: lectures; seminars and written and spoken language classes in small groups. You will spend the rest of your time studying independently, preparing for classes, reading the primary texts, writing essays and working on your language skills.
How will I be assessed?
We will track your progress through a variety of methods, including language assignments, essays, presentations, portfolio submissions and examinations (written and oral). Throughout your course you will receive detailed, personalised feedback to help you to improve your skills. Intermediate year counts for 50% of your mark and your final year counts towards 50% of your overall mark.
