If you are searching for an opportunity to re-examine the keys concepts of ambivalence and learn all about change talk. This Level 2 course of Motivational Interviewing is the right one for you!

This 2 day non-residential course in Birmingham replaces our intermediate course and is for people who have already undertaken some introductory study of motivational interviewing and want to refresh and extend their skills. It is step 2 of our 3 step programme towards the Advanced Certificate.

About this course

The course will provide an opportunity for participants to

re-examine the key concepts of ambivalence, change talk and resistance
explore development of core skills applied within the processes of Engagement, Focussing, Evoking and Planning
practice under supervision and receive feedback on their developing skills
discuss tricky situations and cases from their own workplace (confidentiality rules apply)

It is not intended for complete beginners and prospective participants will be expected to show evidence of of attendance at a foundation course of at least 2 days duration before acceptance on the course. This training does not need to have been one of our own courses provided it covered similar material and included coached practice opportunities. For those who wish to study for the advanced certificate, completion of step 2 is a requirement.

This course is for people who have already received some introductory training on motivational interviewing and want to refresh and extend their skills.

None but this course is a gateway to our level 3 advanced course.

Many providers offer 1 or 2 day courses on this topic but to become really fluent and effective in its' use more coaching is needed.The mix of thei

This course is for people who have already received some introductory training on motivational interviewing and want to refresh and extend their skills. The course fee includes a CDrom interactive course for use in private study prior to the first day of the course. Participants are welcome from any setting, for example, health, criminal justice, education and employment.
