Advanced Apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Maintenance.
Overview
This Advanced Apprenticeship will support your learning and training for a career in the Motor Trade. With further development and training taking place both onsite in our workshops and offiste with employers, you will gain a wide range of skills in order to maintain and repair cars and light vehicles. With an emphasis on improving your understanding and technical awareness within the trade, you will continue to develop professional health and safety standards and excellent customer care.
Entry Requirements
Grade C or above in English, maths, science and IT (or equivalent). Grades below this will be subject to further assessment. You must also be employed in the MVMR industry You will have to be employed working a minimum of 30 hours a week within the industry.
Course Duration
12-18 months.
Skills and Benefits
This work-based qualification assesses the skills and knowledge needed to work effectively in the motorcycle industry. It is a motor industry qualification that covers activities that relate to service technicians working on motorcycles in all types of garages and dealerships. You will need to demonstrate a broad working knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
Mandatory Units
The qualification covers the following areas: Diagnosis and Rectification of Engine and Component Faults Chassis System Faults Auxiliary Equipment Electrical Faults It also offers students the opportunity to demonstrate: Diagnosis and rectification of vehicle transmission and driveline system faults Overhauling mechanical units Inspecting vehicles Identifying and agreeing customer vehicle needs

Course Assessment
Portfolio of evidence is gathered at work, while carrying out operations and tasks. You will be observed and assessed doing the time you are working in industry.
