Course programme

“We’ll go to great lengths to help your career go further”

A specialised finance programme that aims to take students to the next level, developing the knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career in the financial sector.

Aston’s MSc in Finance and Investments is aimed at highly numerate students experienced in finance, economics, maths or science, who are looking for a specialised programme that will build the bridge towards a role in financial analysis, stockbroking, market trading, investment banking, investment regulation or corporate finance.

The opportunity landscape in banking and finance has undergone substantial change during the last two years as a result of the global banking crisis and worldwide recession. While investment banks continue to recruit smaller numbers of graduates in comparison to previous years; the opportunities available after this MSc are much wider.

The facilities and equipment used on this programme are of the highest standard, giving MSc finance students access to the most innovative tools available. This includes a dedicated Reuters dealing room facility and asset market trading simulations. In 2010, a £150,000 investment was opened for finance MSc students studying trading and investment analysis.

The Finance Group at Aston is highly research-orientated, with the senior members having established international reputations and a wide range of experience and expertise from both academic and practitioner sectors. This breadth of expertise will benefit students immensely when they are preparing their dissertations.
