Programme structure
Year 1:

• Historical Studies (one unit)
• Two other units from:

- Historical Studies
- Harmony and Harmonic Analysis
- Free and Studio Composition
- Introduction to Baroque Composition
- Practical Studies

• French Language
• Introduction to French Literature (one unit)
• Shaping Contemporary France

Year 2:

• Core unit: 19th- or 20th-century Music
• Two to four optional units
• French Language
• One, two or three optional units

Year 3:

• Year abroad

Year 4:

• Two to four optional units, with the possibility of including an Extended Study (Dissertation, Composition, Performance
• French Language
• One, two or three optional units (assessed by dissertation or exam)

Entry Requirements

14-19 Advanced Diploma

• Grade B overall in any Diploma, to include grade A in A-level Music (ASL), plus an additional A-level in French at grade B*

BTEC

• DDM and musical ability*

Access

• Pass Access to HE Diploma (Music) with at least 33 credits at Merit and / or Distinction*

SQA

• SH: AAAAB-BBBBC to include French
• AH: BB

Welsh Bacc

• Pass Advanced Diploma with AB at A-level in Music and French*

IB Diploma

• 35-32 points including 6, 6 at Higher level Music and French

EB

• 80-75% overall

IELTS

• 6.5 in all parts

Selection:
UCAS form. Interviews in exceptional circumstances only

Part-time study available:
Yes (daytime, weekday study over twice the usual number of years) plus a period of residence abroad
