Head Of Musical Theatre
Our one year musical theatre diploma is a highly practical, intensive course designed to prepare our students for the professional industry. We do require a good standard of skills at entry; a willingness to work hard; a passion for musical theatre and a good attitude.
We only take a maximum of 20 students onto the course, ensuring all students receive the attention they need and deserve throughout the course.
The course takes place over three terms, all of which will keep you busy on a daily basis, Monday to Friday from 10am until 8pm. Occasional Saturdays will be required for additional study, rehearsal or extra curricular activities. Sundays will alway be your day off and should be considered a day of rest.
The general structure involves morning classes in various disciplines; afternoons in intensive rehearsal, often rehearsal several productions during a term; with early evenings devoted to specialist study and workshops. Students are required to perform regularly and will be given the chance to do so. The course culminates in a London West End showcase.
Students are also given many opportunities to link with the professional industry during their year working with visiting guest tutors from the industry as well as participating in various events throughout the year.
As our Head Of Musical Theatre says “this isn’t a course for having fun or socialising, this is all about developing your skills to be ready for the professional industry, you’re going to have to be strong of mind and body to get through the year. If you want it easy and to have a social life, go study at Mountview!”.
