You will learn about all the stages of production from the planning pre-production stage through production shooting to post-production editing and rendering movies. You will learn the conventions of constructing an effective narrative, the meanings and uses of different shots and camera movements and how to get the best from your subject. You will also learn how to use digital video cameras and record sound, and how to capture and edit your work using the professional editing application Final Cut.

About this course
- storyboard a narrative sequence noting different shots, camera movements, action and sound
- plan and schedule all stages of production
- use a video camera to record scenes
- use a microphone to record sound
- edit your sequence in Final Cut
- export your sequence as a movie
- burn a DVD of your movie.

All filmmaking and editing equipment will be provided but you will need to provide any props you want to use in your production. You may wish to bring your own SD card to record onto as you can then ensure access and security of material. Your tutor will advise you at the start of the course.
