Course Aims:

Progression:
Successful students can go into employment as:
. Early Years practitioners in family centres and Full Day Care Nurseries
. Early years practitioners in nursery classes
. Early Years practitioners and Teaching Assistants in infant classes
. Early Years practitioners with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN)
. Early years practitioners in a community setting

Or onto Higher Education or further training for:
. Teacher Training
. Paediatric (Childrens) Nursing/General Nursing
. Social science degrees - Social Work
. Other Full Time and Part Time Foundation Degrees
. Play Therapists

Awarding Body:
EDEXCEL

Exam:
Students work is continually assessed throughout the two years of the course. Each module is assessed through a variety of methods, for example, Case Studies, Reports, Observation, Witness Testimony, Professional Discussion all moderated by BTEC. Progress in work placements is closely monitored and clear objectives are set, supervised and assessed.

This course requires students to pass a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.Southport College has a policy and Code of Practice on recruitment of ex-offenders. Please refer to the College website where a copy can be found .

Duration:
Two years full-time study of which 80% is College-based and 20% placement-based. The students will be in College four days a week and one day in work placement throughout the two years.
