NC Construction Skills

Course Aims:
This course introduces the construction industry and is open to anyone with an interest in practical-based work and to those wishing to brush up on existing skills. Good practical and theoretical skills will be taught by skilled trade professionals. The programme prepares students for the CITB entry test and a career in construction.

Course Content:
Bricklaying. Joinery. Plumbing. Painting & Decorating. Slating/Plastering/Tiling. Construction Drawing. Building Materials. Construction Technology. Communications, IT & Numeracy. Estimating.

Progression Opportunities:
Students may progress to positions within the industry or onto NC Built Environment. It is anticipated that students who work to an exceptionally high standard may progress directly onto HNC Construction.

Career Potential:
Careers may include apprenticeships in the construction industry, labouring positions or self-employment.

Course Assessment:
Assessments will be on a continuous basis.
