About this course
Applicants should have three Standard Grades at level 3 or above. All applicants will be invited to attend an information session and you will be asked to write an essay when you attend this session. You should hold a full, clean driving licence by the end of the course.

Course Aims:
This course prepares you for a career as a police officer by developing core skills in communication, psychology, working with others, problem solving, Scottish Law, numeracy and enhancing research skills. You will learn what a career as a police officer involves and be supported in preparing for Higher National qualifications and entry to the Police Force
Course Content:
Examination Preparation. Interview Preparation. Police Studies. PE. Psychology. Communication. Interviewer Skills. Guest Speakers. Excursions to Strathclyde Police Force Training Centre at Jackton and Scottish Police Force Training Centre at Tulliallan.
Progression Opportunities:
Most students will make a direct application to the Police Service, however some may go on to study NC Higher Social Science or HNC/D Social Sciences before applying to the police.
Career Potential:
The obvious career progression from the course is the Police Service, however you could make applications to other uniformed services such as the Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Prison Service or security guards.
Course Assessment:
The course is assessed by a range of unit assessments including closed-book examinations, projects, reports and essays.
