About this course
Entry requirements: To enrol on the course you will require a minimum of 3 GCSE's including 4 grade in Maths and/or English. Or if you are progressing from level 1 you may hold level 1 in the subject area with a minimum of Entry 3 in Maths and English. You must also hold a successful reference and a clear DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service).

Course programme
Overview of the course:
This course is designed for students interested in working with children. Student will gain awareness of the core underpinning knowledge and skills in caring for young children to reflect the needs of the sector. This qualification develops the skills and knowledge needed to work under supervision with children and their families in a variety of settings. These could include nurseries, children centres or pre-schools. You will cover a mix of theory and practical work.
Topics:
Topics covered on the course include; Support physical care routines for children; An introduction to the role of the early years practitioner; Support children's play in early years; and Use observation, assessment and planning. Students will also attend placement for a minimum of one day per week.
Additional information
You may progress from the level 2 qualification to Cache level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education (EYE) if you choose to explore a role in childcare. Or you may choose Cache level 3 Award and Certificate in health and Social Care if you are interested in working within the care sector.
