Course Outline


The course is divided up into eight modules, as follows:


  • 1. How to prepare a business plan for your guest house
  • 2A. The legal aspects of your guest house
  • 2B. English Tourism Council Guest Accommodation guidelines
  • 3. Planning the building and its furnishings
  • 4. Developing a marketing plan
  • 5. Dealing with guests
  • 6. Superior food services in your guest house
  • 7. Maintaining the guest rooms and public areas in a guest house
  • 8. How to manage hygiene and safety in your guest house



Duration Students may study over any timescale of up to one year. To complete the course will take in the region of 90 hours of study.

Assessment This course is assessed through a series of tutor marked assignments. No attendance at an exams centre is required.

Accreditation The course is accredited by NCFE, a leading awarding body recognised by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Support Students receive tutor support for a full one year from registration plus unlimited access to the student helpline during working hours.
