NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

Course Aims:
The qualification aims to enable learners to understand the roles and responsibilities of those involved in supporting teaching and learning in schools, and provides an opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to do this effectively and in a self directed way. It prepares learners to support the Teacher and the delivery of curriculum within a school, as well as developing skills to help children develop self-esteem, independence and skills for learning. It seeks to further develop professional and technical skills and knowledge, and an understanding of the importance of positive relationships within a school.

Course Content:
* Develop and maintain professional skills and knowledge for supporting teaching and learning in schools
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships for supporting teaching and learning in schools
* Contribute to the management of pupil behaviour
* Contribute to pupils' learning
* Support pupils with special educational needs or disabilities
* Support the development and application of pupils' literacy, numeracy and ICT skills

Progression:
The NCFE Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools aims to provide progression to the NVQ Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and also provides progression into employment. Learners may also progress to achieve HLTA status.

NCFE

Exam:
No Exam, but candidates will be supported to produce an internally assessed and externally moderated portfolio of evidence that demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes associated with each unit.

Notes:

Funding: candidates may be entitled to part funding from Sefton. There will be a registration fee of 66. Please enquire at student services for full details. Prior to commencement of the course (if not in employment in a school) please ensure that you have organised your work placement in school and CRB enhanced disclosure (the school will normally do this for you)

Duration:
One academic year of 30 weeks, September to June. Five hours per week plus one hour English and Maths support (if required)
