Course Description
This course is for those students who already have some practictical school experience from the Award in Developing Skills for Supporting Teaching and Learning. The course aims to further developing students' knowledge and understanding of child safety,development and assessment of pupils in schools.

Entry Requirements
Successful completion of the NCFE Award in Developing Skills for Teaching and Learning in Schools. Level 1Literacy and Numeracy. If original certificates cannot be produced an assessment of skills will take place at the first lesson.

Modules Studied:

• UNIT 03 Explore and understand how to keep children safe
• UNIT 04 Support children's development
• UNIT 05 Observe and report on children's performance
• Work Placement in school (40 hours)

Duration: 22 weeks

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: Assessment by portfolio of evidence, placement diary and witness observations. No examination.

Progression Routes: NCFE Extended Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Foundation Degree, Higher Level Teaching Assistant assessment and training (if employed).
