The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is one of the most popular and highly valued degree-level qualifications for health and safety professionals in the UK and internationally.
The International Diploma increases candidates' ability to help organisations make sensible and proportionate decisions in managing risks. This supports their business objectives and regulatory requirements – delivering positive change in the modern workplace.
The NEBOSH Diploma covers the practical skills that are essential to health and safety professionals. We assess candidates’ ability to apply their knowledge in real-world settings and teach them how to deliver positive change in the workplace.
The NEBOSH International Diploma course is divided into four units, which can be studied individually or purchased in full, via distance learning.

When combined with further professional development, the NEBOSH Diploma meets the standards required to achieve Chartered Safety Practitioner (CMIOSH) status.
On completion of the NEBOSH International Diploma, you will be entitled to use “DipNEBOSH” after your name and apply for Graduate Membership with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (GradIOSH). It also allows full membership to the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
NEBOSH International Diploma is ideal for health and safety professionals wishing to advance their career outside the UK. This includes safety managers, advisors and consultants.
If you currently work or intend to base your career in the UK, the NEBOSH National Diploma may be more suitable.
There are no formal entry requirements for the NEBOSH International Diploma, however, we recommend first completing one of the following courses:

Course programme
The course is split into four separate units , three taught and one practical, each assessed separately:
- Unit A: Managing Health and Safety.
- Unit B: Hazardous Substances/Agents.
- Unit C: Workplace and Work Equipment Safety.
- Unit DNI: Application of health and safety in the workplace.
Assessments
Units A, B and C are tested in a written three-hour written examination for each unit. A separate unit certificate is awarded for each unit passed.
Exams are held at Phoenix Health and Safety venues in:
- Birmingham
- London
- Manchester
We are also able to facilitate exams in major cities located all over the world at British Council venues, however please note that additional charges may apply for this service.
