A range of vocational tasters will give you an experience of other courses and help you to decide what career path you would like to take. You will also have the opportunity to do a work experience placement.

Course programme

No specific entry requirements are required, but students must show, through an interview, committment to the course. Course Content Students will be studying the NOCN Certificate in Progression, which will cover a range of topics, including: • Preparation for Work - all the essential skills you will need to apply for a job and be successful at interview. • Teamwork Skills - take part in challenges and show you can work effectively as part of a team. • Managing Money - learn how to budget, make savings and handle your own and other people’s money properly. • Independent Living Skills - learn all the skills that will help you to live on your own successfully. • Healthy Living - find out the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and how to create nutritionally balanced meals. In addition, the course offers a range of options to suit the individual needs of the student. Options may include: • work experience in an area of interest • tasters in other course areas of interest • off-site visits and activities • sport activities. Functional Skills These are the skills that are commonly needed for success in a range of activities in education and training, work and life in general: • Maths • English • Computer skills (ICT). How will I be assessed? Most of your work will be assessed through coursework, which will be completed during lessons. English, maths and ICT are assessed through formal exams, which can be taken when the student is ready. Progression On successful completion of this course, progression may be possible to a full-time, vocational course of choice, enter employment or an Apprenticeship. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31st August on the year of enrolment - no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31st August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases.
