Nursing Competency Assessment Testing Service - Candidate Preparation Information

Referred to undertake the Nursing Competency Assessment Testing Service (NCATS) by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), NCATS is also utilised by CQUniversity's School of Nursing and Midwifery for performance issues raised with a current nursing student as well as industry for staff assessments.

You will be assessed in a familar environment. For example, if your most recent area of clinical practice is aged care, your testing scenarios will reflect contemporary best practice in that health care delivery setting.

As part of the assessment process, you will need to familarise yourself the competency testing process, how to prepare and what items you will need to bring.

The pre-reading modules contain information that will cover:

• competency assessment location and procedure
• expected time of assessment
• testing knowledge against the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Competency Domains
• equipment and dress requirements
• confidentiality and disclosure information
• reporting requirements.

You will be advised of resources required as part of the pre-reading modules.

There are no prerequisites required for completion of this course.

You will be required to complete a one hour pre-reading module prior to attending the practical assessment.
