This innovative nursing programme leads to the award of a Nursing BSc together with professional registration as a Mental Health Nurse. You will learn to work with people who have both acute and ongoing mental health problems, and will involve you working with service users and their carers in a variety of settings and specialist areas such as; forensic psychiatry, child and adolescent units, drug and alcohol addiction and eating disorders.

Year 1

Year 1

Each year you will typically study modules totalling 120 credits, focusing on quality care, cutting-edge clinical skills and professional delivery, combined with the knowledge and expertise necessary to undertake them. You will learn the pivotal roles of the nurse as a leading practitioner and partner. There will be a mixture of college based activities which will underpin periods of clinical practice. As degree students you will become increasingly clinically focused by the second year, extending your ability to influence patient care and teamwork.

Year 2

During this year your modules will become increasingly clinically focused in your area of practice. You will also take an additional optional module of your choice, allowing you to tailor your learning to your own areas of interest. Your practice placements will enable you to apply the knowledge gained through study in a variety of clinical settings. You can also take advantage of the opportunity for international elective placement during the programme.
