National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are qualifications, which
assess your ability to work to these standards. Once you have completed the NVQ, you can be sure that employers will understand and value your qualification.

To achieve the NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy you must complete eight units, seven core units and one optional unit chosen by the College from a wider list.

The topics you will study include:

· Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
· Promote additional products or services to clients
· Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
· Epilate the hair follicle using diathermy, galvanic and blend
techniques
· Provide head and body massage treatments
· Improve body condition using electrotherapy
· Improve face and skin condition using electrotherapy.

The optional unit selected by the College is in providing self tanning
treatments.

You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include Functional Skills and can also include more specialist awards that are relevant to the subject you are studying.

How will I be assessed?
Assessments are carried out through practical skills tests, observations of you working, assignments and project work. You will be able to test your practical skills and knowledge in our
commercial clinics.

On successful completion you may:

Progress to higher level professional qualifications in beauty therapy or one of the more specialist areas of the subject.

Or

Start an exciting and rewarding career, for example as a practising Beautician or Therapist in a beauty clinic.

Or

Progress to a Level 3 Nail Services qualification.

Achieving this course will give you the equivalent of 2 A Levels.
