National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are qualifications, which
assess your ability to work to occupational standards. Once you have completed the NVQ, you can be sure that employers will understand
and value your qualification.

To achieve the NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy you must complete nine units. You will study eight core units and one optional unit.

The topics you will study include:

· Improve and maintain facial skin condition
· Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
· Remove hair using waxing techniques
· Provide manicure treatments
· Provide pedicure treatments
· Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
· Promote additional products or services to clients
· Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work.

The optional unit selected by the College is application of make-up.
You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include qualifications in Functional Skills and can also include more specialist awards relevant to the subject you are studying.

How will I be assessed?
Assessments are carried out through practical skills tests, observations of you working, assignments and projects. You will be able to test your practical skills and knowledge in our commercial clinics.

Progression
On successful completion you may:

Progress to a Level 3 NVQ in Beauty Therapy or Nail Services.

Or

Progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy,
which combines employment and study in an exciting and challenging programme.

Or

Start an exciting and rewarding career, for example as a Beauty Therapist in a beauty clinic or spa.

Achieving this course will give you the equivalent of 5 GCSEs
at grades A*-C.
