Applicants for the course need not have any prior knowledge or formal qualification, but a keen interest in flower arranging is desired. Applicants coming from secondary education must provide evidence of sound attendance and a good record of achievement.

What will I study?
This qualification covers a wide range of topics featuring all aspects of floristry. Learners will be taught how to produce floral designs in a variety of ways, consumer theory, how to sell the product effectively and customer relations, amongst other topics. Learners must complete all units on level 2 of the NVQ to enable automatic progression to level 3. Learners wishing to undertake this course must be employed in the industry or be prepared to undertake a period of work placement.

Course Structure
In order to gain a full NVQ 2 in Floristry these units will be studied; *Maintain the condition and appearance of plants to optimise their sales value, *Monitor the quality of cut materials, *Construct funeral designs, *Construct wedding designs in mediums, *Construct arrangements, *Assemble tied floristry designs, *Assemble wired floristry designs, *Monitor and maintain health and safety, *Develop personal performance and maintain working relationships, *Process payments for purchases (DNTO), *Display stock to promote sale to customers (DNTO), *Help customers to choose products (DNTO), *Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation (ICS), *Deliver reliable customer service (ICS), *Contribute to developing and maintaining positive caller relationship (e-skills NTO).
