The NVQ L2 in Playwork will enhance their personal growth and development and so enable them to undertake their role with greater confidence. Possible job roles after completion include: Hospital Playwork Assistant Holiday Club Assistant After-school Club Assistant Adventure Centre Assistant. Suitable for: The NVQ L2 in Playwork is aimed at playworkers of at least 16 years old who may be new to the profession and who work largely under supervision.

The NVQ L2 in Playwork is a nationally recognised qualification awarded by City & Guilds. It enables candidates to gain a qualification that directly relates to the play-work environment, and which is designed to enhance personal growth and development, allowing candidates to undertake their role with greater confidence. Possible job roles after completion include:
- Hospital Play-work Assistant
- Holiday Club Assistant
- After-school Club Assistant
- Adventure Centre Assistant
How does it work
Half day sessions will be held which are built around the candidate’s prior experience. Candidates will be expected to participate fully in group work and discussion. Completion of the course is expected within a 12 month period.
The qualification consists of six mandatory units and two additional optional units. The compulsory units are:
- Contribute to positive relationships in the play setting
- Support children and young people´s play
- Contribute to the health and safety of the young people
- Contribute to the work of your team
- Support the protection of children from abuse
Two optional units can be chosen from:
- Contribute to children and young people´s healthy eating and personal hygiene
- Escort and supervise children outside the play setting environment
- Deal with accidents and emergencies
