About this course

NVQ level two or an ACA Qualification. Proficiency in English and Numeracy is necessary. Learning support is built into the programme to provide help whenever this is necessary.

Course programme

Level three programmes are usually one year long but it is possible to study individual units.

The mandatory units are:

  • Conform to general workplace safety
  • Confirm work activities and resources for the work
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships
  • Confirm the occupational method of work
  • Erect masonry structures
  • Set out masonry structures
  • Erect thin joint masonry structures
  • Set out complex masonry structures
  • Erect complex masonry structures

Optional unit:

  • Lay domestic drainage

The programme is assessed by a range of methods which may include projects, assignments and oral questioning. There is also a written test for each unit. There are opportunities to retake or re-submit work that has not been awarded a pass grade. You will produce a portfolio of evidence during the course. There is also a test in Health and Safety.
