Course programme

The course comprises six units, five mandatory and one optional. The mandatory units are relevant to all who care for children, and the optional unit is designed to specific job roles, allowing candidates to choose the unit most relevant to them.

Mandatory units:

  • Conform to general workplace safety
  • Conform to efficient work practices
  • Move and handle resources
  • Install first fixing components
  • Install second fixing components

Optional units (choose one):

  • Install modular buildings
  • Install portable cabins and units

Each candidate is assessed on their ability to perform tasks competently, and whether they have the correct knowledge and understanding to be competent at those tasks. The qualification is built around key tasks from the job role, it is delivered in the workplace by a qualified assessor and involves working through the chosen units.
The course is assessed though underpinning knowledge questions and the development of a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competence. Candidates will be provided with the course materials
