Course programme
This course represents a unique opportunity to further develop your skills, knowledge and practice in occupational and business psychology and to achieve a doctoral qualification.
Taught at weekends (five days across the year) with flexible outputs, the course is aimed at practitioners working within related fields. Including a range of taught expert sessions on key topics in the area, research methods and evidence-based practice sessions, extensive group supervision and action learning sets with a like-minded group of individuals, this course represents the ideal opportunity for you to achieve professional status in your industry of choice.
The course has been created and will be run by multi-award winning evidence-based practitioner occupational psychologists and academics, Joanna Yarker and Rachel Lewis, meaning you will receive consistently exemplary quality learning and networking experiences.
As a student on this course, you can benefit from attending the range of courses, modules and additional sessions offered on the Occupational and Business Psychology MSc. You can also attend our quarterly 'Engaging the Profession' evenings.
This course has been designed to meet the standards for the British Psychological Society (BPS) Stage 2 training in occupational psychology and training of the Health and Care Professions Council and we will be seeking accreditation this year for those starting on the full programme in 2019. If successful, this will enable practitioners to achieve chartered status (CPsychol) and registered psychologist status at the same time as achieving a doctorate.
There are two elements of assessment:
- Professional practice portfolio (25,000 words) consisting of five professional practice review reports, each linked to the five core areas of occupational and business psychology. If you already hold chartered status (CPsychol) you are exempt from this element.
- Research thesis (25,000 words) consisting of a research proposal, systematic literature review protocol, reflective practice record and two empirical studies presented as papers (one to include a systematic literature review).
