This course is designed to give the candidate an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Health and Safety Manager. On successful completion the candidate will have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage the safety and health of others in a commercial environment.
The course covers:
· Recognise hazards found in the workplace
· Produce and record basic risk assessments
· Recommend control measures as a result of the basic risk assessments
· Provide management practices and principles as part of a complete management strategy
· Plan, create and implement actions to meet health and safety objectives
· Recognising and accounting for the risks from ergonomic factors
· Investigation accidents and incidents which resulted in damage or injuries to discover the causes and to ensure the appropriate steps are taken.
As a manager it is important to know your legal duties when it comes to health and safety. You have a responsibility to ensure that the policies and procedures are implemented and maintained. You will also need to decide if and when health and safety training is required.
The course is delivered in the classroom and is equivalent to 2 days study. By utilising advance learning techniques, this course can be delivered in a single day. On successful completion you may apply to join the Guild of Safety Managers as a certified member. You will also be entitled to take part in the TGSM managers card scheme. The coveted black card is only available to qualified, certified members.
