Introduction:
The OCR Level 1 in bookkeeping provides a flexible introduction to key topics in bookkeeping. The course is aimed at those who are new to the skills and knowledge required of bookkeepers and also at those who are studying in preparation for employment in bookkeeping job roles. It is also suitable for those who wish to develop basic knowledge of bookkeeping before taking the NVQ in Accounting at Level 2.

Course Content:
To obtain the full Level 1 Certificate candidates must pass the mandatory Unit 1 (Posting to accounts) plus any other two optional units.

Optional units:
Maintaining Petty Cash

Maintaining the Cashbook

Maintaining Ledgers (Computerised)

Processing Sales and Purchase Documents (Computerised)

Assessment:
Unit 1 is assessed by external examination and marked as Distinction, Pass or Fail. Units 2, 3 & 4 are assessed through assignments and marked as Pass or Fail.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
On completion of this course students can progress further with there studies on to courses such as computerised accounts, AAT level accounting or business and marketing at levels 2 and 3.

How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with an Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
