About this course

The Master's Degree in Human Resources Program's overall objective is for its students to acquire and develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet the demands of managing the human resources in any organization.
The aim is to train human resource experts and managers that are aware of the importance of people in any organization; are able to understand the companies and institutions in a global manner; design and incorporate human resource policies; and manage people.
These professionals must have a good understanding of and apply the following values: Transparency, honesty, respect and solidarity and contributing to the progress and competitiveness of business organizations.

The Official Master's Degree in Human Resources is aimed at university degree holders with little work experience who, regardless of the studies they have completed, wish to engage in human resource and people management as their main occupation. Students must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent university qualification. Students looking to study this degree would be expected to show a disposition to develop the following skills and interests:
Interest in one anotherInterpersonal relationships are at the core of human resource departments. Understanding the needs and interests of employees is the cornerstone of the management of human capital.
Social skillsEffective communication with one another should be one of the basic skills with which to work: active listening, respect for dignity, persuasion, and the ability to convey information both orally and in writing are just some examples.
Interest in the corporate and business worldThe context in which the above skills are employed is a very specific context in which business goals and customer satisfaction constitute the main aim of all the work involving people.
Interest in management, leadership and team building The main tasks of Human Resources department employees involve making others do something. From this perspective, the phenomena occurring in work teams and especially regarding their leadership are some of the most important focuses of interest in this profession.

Candidates must hold or be able to justify that they will soon be awarded a Bachelor's or Licentiate Degree, Diploma, Degree in Engineering or in Architecture, or equivalent degree from foreign university (in the latter case, if in another language, it must be translated into Spanish by an official translator).

When organizations exceed a certain size, regardless of the type of business or industry, the management of human capital becomes one of the most important, specific and sensitive strategic elements. This kind of management thus requires a high level of qualification. The professional profile of Official Master's Degree in Human Resources graduates allows them to perform highly skilled tasks in any of the following:
HR departments
Staff training and development departments.
Compensation and benefits departments.

Moreover, the Official Master's Degree in Human Resources also enables holders to gain admission to official doctorate programs as provided for in Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, which regulates official doctorate programs.

The adequacy of their previous studies to the field of human resource management will be evaluated. The academic transcript and level of English will also be weighted.
In order to decide on the admission of a candidate to the Master's Degree in Human Resources, the following evaluation criteria will also be considered:
Results of the tests carried out in order to verify the candidate's analytical thinking, written and oral expression, and learning skills.
Results of the candidate's personal interview with the Course Director or Coordinator.
The program directors issue a report on the candidates' performance on the basis of the tests that they have carried out. Admission to the program will fall to the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Director of ICADE Business School (Center integrated in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration).

The teaching methodology is based on an eminently practical and active learning model that is designed to adapt the educational objectives, content and learning strategies.
Teaching is based on interactive presentations by the lecturer, seminars, conferences, tutorials, simulations, use of IT tools to complete individual and group assignments, case studies, lecturer-directed study and assignments, oral presentations and self-directed study.
The teaching style and methodology are primarily based on the direct contact time between the lecturers and the students; hence, at least 80% attendance of classes is required in order to successfully pass the various areas or subjects that make up the program. The lecturer will keep track of attendance to their subject's classes, keeping the program director and coordinator informed at all times.
In order to be awarded the Master's Degree in Human Resources, the students must pass assessments covering the study program through a mixed evaluation system:
On the one hand, the lecturers of each of the subjects assess whether the student has achieved the learning objectives for each of them. This assessment, which takes place throughout the program, aims to verify that the student has mastered the subject content and developed the specific related skills. The evaluation of the student's knowledge will be performed by employing methods of continuous assessment and examinations. The grade will also takes into account the participation and interest shown by the student, oral presentations, and the scores of individual and group work carried out throughout the course.
On the other, the evaluation is supplemented with the oral defense of the Final Master's Project or Dissertation, which must be passed for it to be weighted along with the other grades.

This internship consists of 240 hours of work in any of the companies or organizations with which Comillas Pontifical University has educational cooperation agreements in place.
Moreover, the group and individual work, comprising 60 hours, carried out as part of the internship will be monitored within the company. Such monitoring is essential, as it will entail direct, active and individualized development of the competencies and skills that the student employs during the internship.
The Master's program is not intended to be a mere supplier of interns. Instead, the presence of these mediators between the university and the company means that both institutions grow and learn from each other.
