Professionally accredited by the Energy Institute (the leading chartered professional body for the international energy industry), Oil and Gas Management MSc is Coventry’s longest running degree course in oil and gas. Developed in collaboration with the industry and delivered, like Petroleum and Environmental Technology MSc, by the largest group of oil and gas specialists at Coventry University, this exciting programme can be taken as a conversion course or as a means of enhancing relevant skills obtained at first degree level.
This course aims to equip you with the skills required to support a range of management/professional careers in the global petroleum industry. It provides a comprehensive advanced level introduction to the international operation of the industry (upstream and downstream), and explores the key challenges and emerging technologies that are influencing exploration and production and the future of oil and gas.
Core modules focus on essential skills for industry managers/professionals such as project and quality management, health and safety management and petroleum contracts and economics.
Students can then enhance their employability by specialising in one of four routes (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment [QHSE]; Finance and Investment; Law and Policy (this route is not available for May start); and Technology Management). Course highlights include the use of industry standard simulation facilities and software (including an innovative simulation centre, which supports real time scenarios linked to the management of industry-related emergencies, and a state of the art commodity trading floor), and the opportunity to obtain an IOSH accredited Managing Safely Certificate. MSc OGM students can also participate in a vibrant Student Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
