The oilman is the worker or entrepreneur in the branch of the oil industry, called the oil tanker. Petroleum is a liquid mixture of various hydrocarbons, mainly alkanes, found in deposits in the upper layers of the earth's crust, and is a primary energy source of modernity. Also called black gold, it is a viscous, flammable liquid that can range in color from black to dark brown, ranging from greenish to orange. It is called crude or crude, the oil that is extracted from the fields, before undergoing any treatment to transform it into a processed product. Oil has accompanied the history of man for centuries: the Greek word νάφθας náphthas or νάφθα náphtha was initially used to indicate the typical flames of oil emanations. The peoples of ancient times knew the superficial oil deposits, and used them to produce medicines (with soothing and laxative functions [2]) and bitumen or to power lamps. Oil was introduced to the West primarily as a medicine, following Arab expansionism. Its therapeutic qualities spread very rapidly and some sources of oil in the open air, such as the ancient Blufi (sanctuary of the "Madonna of the oil") and Petralia in Sicily, became known spas of antiquity. Crude oil is a viscous liquid with a color ranging from light yellow to dark brown or greenish, and in its almost totality its relative density is less than 1, that is, it has a lower specific weight than water. The color appears to be darker in crude oils that contain hydrocarbons with a higher average molecular weight. Its density and viscosity are also linked to the average molecular weight of the components, since the higher the average molecular weight, the more dense and viscous the crude oil is.
