Opito Approved Introduction to Rigging and Lifting Operations: 3 Day

NSL’s three-day industry standard / OPITO approved "Introduction to Rigging and Lifting Operations" training course is the first step in the process of achieving competence and is designed to train personnel new to rigging and lifting operations.

The course is a mixture of theoretical presentations, practical demonstrations and exercises, combined with the assessment of the delegate's knowledge and skill level during the learning process.

Employing verbal questioning, practical observation and a written test paper, delegates are required to achieve a score of 80% or above, in the course's four areas of assessment.

CONTENT: Theoretical Presentation Content Comprises: Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations; Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974; LOLER; Integrated Safe Systems of Work; Risk Assessment; Planning Lift Operations; Load weight Estimation; Centre of Gravity; Angles and Tensions; Slinging Applications and Guidelines; Cross-hauling; Crane Operations Overview; Hand Signals and Radio Communications; PPE; Environmental Hazzards; Safe Use of Ladders; Manual Handling. Practical Demonstration and Exercises Include: Pre-use Inspection of Equipment; Rigging Locker Issue and Control; Planning and Completing Simple Rigging and Lifting Operations; Completing Complicated Rigging and Lifting Operations.

The course begins with a day in the classroom, followed by two days of practical demonstrations and exercises. On completion of a written test paper, the successful delegates are issued with an NSL certificate of training.

PPE REQUIRED: Coveralls, hard hat, safety boots and gloves.
