Training Course:
OPITO APPROVED RIGGER ASSESSMENT

This two day course is designed for rigging and lifting personnel who require to be assessed to the OPITO Rigger Standard. The standard identifies the basic competencies and safety training required by the UK
Offshore Oil & Gas Industry for personnel involved in rigging and lifting operations.

The emphasis of this course is on assessment of practical skills and competence. Delegates will be required to prepare lifting plans and to
identify the risks and control measures required. Assessment will be in line with OPITO performance criteria laid down in the standard. Delegates will be required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

Legislation and relevant Standards
Safe Systems of Work
(permits, procedures, tool box talks)
Risk Assessment and Control Measures
Planning of Lifting Operations
Team Work and Communication.
Knowledge of Slings and Lifting Equipment.
Inspection and Certification of Equipment.

Weight Identification and Estimation
Placements, Cross-Hauls and Transfer of a Load
Dynamic Influences on a Load
Location of Centre of Gravity
