About this course

- briefly outline the historical context for development of federalism in America
- identify key features and challenges of relationship between state governments and the federal government
-identify at least TWO reasons for changes in shifts of power between state and federal levels in the USA.

A list of recommended reading material will be provided, but this is optional. Please bring pen and paper.

- Historical context for development of federalism in the United States today
- Examine the dynamic relationship between state governments and the federal government of the United States
- Explore the changes in shifts of power under different presidents have proven to be challenges to this relationship.

A mixture of lecture, Q & A, source work, pair/group and class discussion. A bibliography/reading list will be given at the beginning of the course. Also (brief ) reading materials will be given at the end of each session. Please note, that supplementary reading is not a course requirement, but you will get more out of the course if you do some extra reading.
