Level Three This course is designed for those who work with children. It meets the requirements of OFSTED and The Early Years Foundation guidelines. This course is suitable for Early Years register and General Childcare register. The course includes: assessing priorities of care CPR and all aspects of basic life support (BLS) for babies and children choking managing unconsciousness control of bleeding and the treatment of minor wounds care and use of first aid equipment recognition and treatment of burns and scalds recognition and treatment of fractures and soft tissue injuries recognise and treat common injuries and illnesses until the arrival of medical aid overview of relevant legislation, reporting and recording. The course satisfies the Ofsted requirements for childcare settings, the Childcare Register and the Early Years Register. The paediatric first aid course content includes the role of a first aider and how to manage an emergency; communication; all basic life support for babies and children; childhood conditions and illness; injury to muscles, ligaments, bones, head and spine; bites and stings; foreign objects; extremes of body temperature; unconsciousness and seizures Please Note - some courses are run on consecutive days; however we are aware that some employers find it difficult to release employees for two days in one week. Course programme
Those who complete the course will be awarded a certificate which is valid for three years. This is a useful qualification for those wishing to work with children or for parents of young children.
